Types of Reiki
Usui/Tibetan Reiki
Mikao Usui was responsible for bringing Reiki into the modern age. He is the founder of the Reiki system of healing. Usui Reiki is the most widely used form of Reiki today. It was brought was to the west by a woman named Hawayo Takata who made some variations from the Japanese style Reiki practiced in the original school founded by Mikao Usui.
Usui/Tibetan Reiki combines the original Usui Reiki with a powerful Tibetan method of attunement.
Karuna Reiki®
Karuna Reiki® is a registered trademark of the International Center of Reiki Training. In October of 2002 I traveled to Niagara Falls, Ontario to take Karuna Master Training. I am a register Karuna Reiki Master with the International Center for Reiki Training and teach classes in Karuna Reiki. Karuna is the motivating quality of all those who are working to end suffering on Earth. As I develop Karuna in myself I become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. Karuna Reiki® uses healing sounds that can be transmitted silently through intention or by chanting and toning these sacred sounds for deeper levels of healing.
Gendai Reiki
Gendai Reiki has its roots in original Usui Reiki. Mr. Hiroshi Doi is a Japanese Reiki Master who has been spreading the teaching of Usui Sensei and the original Usui Ryoho Gaikai (school) around the world. His school of Reiki is called Gendai Reiki Healing Kyokai. (Gendai means modern) Doi Sensei brings a strong Buddhist perspective to his mix of western Reiki techniques and the original Reiki teachings.
Rainbow Reiki®
Healing and Developing the Body of Light
Working with the seven main chakras within the physical body since 1998 I came to realize there there was something beyond this system which is related to the Tree of Life. I began working with the Tree of Life or Kabala and began to open to expanded perceptions of our true nature. Walter Lubeck is a Spiritual Teacher and Reiki Master who lives in Germany. In 2002 he began teaching a new part of his Rainbow Reiki system for Healing and Developing the Body of Light. The Body of Light is the spiritual energy structure beyond the main chakras. Within the the aura of a human being there are several chakras which organize the Body of Light. It provides a balance between the tasks and responsibilities of the material existence, spiritual laws and the individual vision. This is a profound and esoteric teaching. I was delighted to have Walter as my teacher and guide.
Five-Element-Seichem, Violet-Flame Seichem and Golden Dragon Healing
I have had the pleasure of receiving the teachings and initiations of two levels of this system from Alex Baisley, who is presently the only teacher of this system in Canada. Alex proves to be a wise guide on this journey into the ancient teachings.
Five Element Seichem Reiki consciously utilizes the principals of the five element aspects of Universal Life force that lives in all creation. It is based on ancient Vedic, Yogic, Buddhist, Egyptian and Christ teachings.
Violet Flame Seichem is a tool for spiritual transformation. Its powerful alchemy assist in transmuting lower vibrations to higher vibrations or the lower self into the Divine self.
Golden Dragon connects us to the energetic frequencies of specific healing rays, minerals, metals and crystals so that we may work with them in a more conscious manner. Golden Dragon reclaims connection to the Divine Mother and the ancient initiations of the Sacred Feminine.
Shamballa Multidimensional Healing
In the spring of 2006 I began working towards the Master Level in Shamballa Multidimensional healing with Deb Caldwell. Originally called Shamballa Reiki, it offers a more esoteric perspective to the Reiki energy with the incorporation of many vibratory symbols and healing rays. It allows the practitioner to work with the multi dimensional self repairing damaged energetics. It restores the client to the wholeness, which allows them to complete their soul's experience.
Shamballa offer many techniques, which are fast and efficient in helping to cleanse, repair and balance the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. It works to strip away the illusions of separation that keep us from experiencing the full brilliance of our light bodies.
Reiki Drumming
I am a Certified Reiki Drumming Practitioner. In a Reiki Drumming session I use the Shamanic drumming methods I learned from Michael Baird. When we combine the energy of the drum with Reiki we have a healing method that takes the power of Reiki to a new and profound level of healing. Every organ, every cell in the body is a drum and drumming reminds our body of its ideal vibratory rate, which is in harmony with the pulse of the earth and the Universal flow of creation. I have found that Reiki Drumming affects the physical and subtle bodies simultaneously, helping to bring them into harmony while raising the vibratory rate to levels, which allow the body to accelerate its innate healing abilities.
"Reiki Kids"
Bringing together Reiki and the young is a sure recipe for magic on Earth. In the spring of 2001 Soul Connection designed a "Reiki Kids" program for the special children who will be the teachers and world leaders of tomorrow. We published a Reiki Kids book for the children to use in the classes along with a Teaching Guide for Reiki Masters. These materials were received so well that we have put together a meditation CD designed especially for children. To order any of these items, go to the Reiki Kids website: www.reikikids.ca
The Crystal Bowls and Reiki
The idea of healing with sound is both ancient and futuristic. The crystal bowls are healing tools that have been brought back into modern times through technological advances. Each bowl is tuned to resonate with a particular chakra. The clear tones of the crystal bowls move through the body in vibrant waves, calming, aligning, and healing the energy centers and auric field. The presence and resonance of the bowls will help you to achieve balance and harmony in these times of vibratory acceleration. Crystal amplifies, holds and transmits energy, each bowl is also infused with Reiki so that it will vibrate with the highest healing intention.
Reiki and Crystals
Crystal have been used in technology as powerful transmitters and receivers. Crystals and gemstones grow very slowly and the gemstone realm is a living one. Like the plant and animal kingdoms the crystals are filled with life force energy. In energy healing we use them because they also have the ability to hold and amplify the healing intention. By infusing crystals and stones with Reiki we can father amplify that intention. I find that just by having crystals present in my healing space helps to energize and uplift the vibration in the room.
Reiki for Hospice
Reiki is used in Hospice to bring comfort and ease anxiety. It alleviates discomfort and pain. It makes the process of ‘letting go’ easier. Hospice Wellington is a volunteer organization in Guelph, Ontario, which incorporates Reiki into the services they offer their clients. Along with many other dedicated volunteers I offer my Reiki services to assist the dying and those around them who are dealing with grief. This is one of the ways we can offer Reiki in service to help others.
Reiki ~ my journey
As a Reiki Master I remain open to understand the many schools and teachings of Reiki. I am constantly studying and learning, so that I can offer my students and clients this knowledge and experience. I received my First Degree Reiki Training and Practitioners certificate in 1999 from Reiki Master, Lisa Lindsay. I took my Second Degree from Kathy Glover Scott, a Reiki Master in Ingersoll, Ontario.
My Advanced Reiki Training and Reiki Master Level in Usui/Tibetan Reiki were received in September of 2000 from William Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training. I am grateful for the training I have received from my Reiki Masters; each attunement has been a valuable and enlightening experience. I have been guided to each one of my teachers.
The Master training I received from William Rand was very beautiful and profound. I deeply connected with the Tibetan symbols that were passed to me during the attunement. They have been very powerful in my work as a healer and in my connection to all of life.
I have since taken all levels of Reiki from William Rand in order to be sure I have a full and complete understanding of all Reiki teachings and the attunement process. I am fully certified to teach all levels of Reiki as well as many other forms of Energy Healing. I am a registered teacher with Canadian Reiki Association and a registered Karuna Reiki® Master with the International Center for Reiki Training. I believe in the Center’s philosophy, code of ethics and teaching standards. I want my students to be aware that I am offering them a complete course of study according to the standards set out by the International Center for Reiki Training, the Canadian Reiki Association and the International Association of Reiki Professionals. I am dedicated to teaching this information to them with integrity and honesty.
In July of 2002, I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Canadian Reiki Association. The Canadian Reiki Association is a federally chartered, non-profit registry of Reiki practitioners and teachers. The aim of the association is to provide the public with referrals to Registered Practitioners and Registered Teachers, promote ethical practice and teaching, encourage educational standards, inform and protect the public and provide a national voice for CRA members.
In 2003 a group of Reiki Practitioners in Ontario formed the Reiki Association of Ontario in order to create a strong Reiki community within our Province. Reiki Ontario has the same mandate as the federal association, but with more focus on the practice of Reiki within Ontario. I resigned my position with the Canadian Reiki Association in order to better serve the Reiki community within my own Province and took over as President of the Ontario Reiki Association in 2004.
I continued my study of Reiki and working with the Divine Rays. In October 2002 I became a Karuna Reiki® Master. I began teaching Karuna Reiki® the following year. I love the beautiful compassionate energy of Karuna. The opportunity to use toning and chant with Karuna Reiki® is extremely beautiful and effective. It opened me to the unlimited possibilities of healing with sound.
I had the opportunity to study Rainbow Reiki, ‘Connecting to the Body of Light’ with Walter Lubeck in August of 2003. It was a wonderful course as only Walter can present it. Walter is a bit of a wizard who has spent many years as a student of the esoteric. He brings lightness and fun to all that he teaches.
My connection to the power of sound became even deeper when I became a Reiki Drumming Practitioner. Combining sound and Reiki was a natural progression and I love how they work so powerfully together. I went to Sedona in November of 2003 to complete those studies with the founder of Reiki Drumming, Michael Baird. The magic of Sedona surrounded me. Each day I took long walks in the red rocks to help integrate all that I was learning. I came back ready to use the drumming work in my practice and teach it to the Reiki community.
My understanding of the ancient powers within the Reiki system deepened even more when I took Five Element Seichem and Golden Dragon training with Alex Baisley. The Alchemical processes within this system have similarities to the Alchemical Healing studies I did with Nicki Scully in the summer of 2005. Seichem and Golden Dragon give me new ways to combine it all.
In April of 2006 I became a Gendai Reiki Shihan, which is the Master Level in that system. Gendai Reiki has its roots in original Usui Reiki. Mr. Hiroshi Doi is a Japanese Reiki Master who has been spreading the teaching of Usui Sensei and the original Usui Ryoho Gaikai (school) around the world. Gendai offers a strong Buddhist perspective with mix of western Reiki techniques and the original Reiki teachings. It was very interesting to learn from a lineage that come directly from Japan. While some of the teachings differ, the essence is the same. The more I learn, the more I understand the limitless energies we are tapping into when we are connected to this beautiful healing power called “Reiki”.
In the spring of 2006 I began working with the healing rays and Divine Beings of Shamballa through Master/Teacher Deb Caldwell. By the summer I had attained a Master Degree in Shamballa Multidimensional Healing.
“Has Reiki changed your life?” This is one of the questions people often ask me. In answer to this I can say my life has been changed in the most wonderful and uplifting ways. I was fortunate not be a healer who came to this work because of serious disease. My personal healing has taken place on many levels and has led me to a greater understanding of myself and my divine purpose. Reiki enhances my life everyday. I have connected to its creative force. I use it to assist in creating positive changes in my life and to get me through the not so positive moments. In moving from a place of struggle and effort to a life of grace and ease, I answer, “Yes! Reiki has changed my life profoundly.”
I delight in seeing how it changes the lives of my students and clients. I have seen wonderful changes that have transformed people who have suffered from Chronic Fatigue, Depression, Fibromyalgia and many other dehabilitating illnesses. I have seen traumatic injuries heal very quickly, I have witnessed people taking control of their lives and I have had the honour of being present with the dying in their final act of peacefully letting go. I consider Reiki to be a magnificent gift from the Universe and I feel honoured each time I am able to use this gift either for myself, my family or a client.
In my studies with many wonderful teachers I have learned techniques and methods of using Reiki to support wholeness. Each time I work with a client, we discern together, the most appropriate method to facilitate their healing. I have found that whatever they are comfortable with will be most effective.
Reiki has become an expression of creativity that allows for very deep levels of transformation and healing. I have learned to combine it with powerful methods of healing through sound, light and alchemy. As I tell my students, ‘Reiki is only limited by your own creativity”.
What Reiki Is...
The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means Universal Light. It is the God-Consciousness universal knowledge called Rei that guides the fundamental Life Force energy called Ki. Reiki guides itself with its own wisdom.
Reiki is an ancient healing art. It is a laying on of hands touch healing system of incomparable ease and power. It is a simple technique for transferring healing energy from a giver to a receiver.
During a session, the Practitioner has the receiver in a comfortable position, usually laying on a treatment table. The receiver is fully clothed. When the session begins the receiver will experience a gentle sense of relaxation. The Practitioner will gently lay their hands on the receiver in various positions so as to free the “Ki” energy and allow it to begin the healing process.
The Treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through the body and surrounds it. The recipient falls into a deep relaxed state of consciousness similar to the meditative state. It is in this deep relaxed state that the body begins to regenerate and heal. Reiki treats the whole person including mind, body and spirit. It creates many beneficial effects including calm relaxation, peacefulness, security and well being.
Reiki is a perfect way to releave stress. It is also a wonderful preventative therapy. It is important not to wait until stress builds up in the body and a serious illness sets in.
Reiki compliments any other type of “conventional” treatment the client may be receiving. Treatments do not involve manipulation or massage. It does not even require hands-on application. The hands-off technique is especially effective for clients who have experienced abuse. Because Reiki is a Universally guided energy, it can do no harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create an effect that is appropriate and assist the body in regulating its own energy.
Anyone can learn to tap into this unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve health and enhance the quality of life. Reiki is a technique for transmitting this energy to yourself and to others through the hands, the thoughts, and the chakras contained within the human energy system.
Through Reiki we experience the blessing of spiritual growth and change. Reiki is divine grace, a sacred gift and a tool to help develop conscious awareness. It is the very key to enlightenment.
As in most things in life, Reiki must be experienced to be fully understood and appreciated.
