Reiki ~ my journey
As a Reiki Master I remain open to understand the many schools and teachings of Reiki. I am constantly studying and learning, so that I can offer my students and clients this knowledge and experience. I received my First Degree Reiki Training and Practitioners certificate in 1999 from Reiki Master, Lisa Lindsay. I took my Second Degree from Kathy Glover Scott, a Reiki Master in Ingersoll, Ontario.
My Advanced Reiki Training and Reiki Master Level in Usui/Tibetan Reiki were received in September of 2000 from William Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training. I am grateful for the training I have received from my Reiki Masters; each attunement has been a valuable and enlightening experience. I have been guided to each one of my teachers.
The Master training I received from William Rand was very beautiful and profound. I deeply connected with the Tibetan symbols that were passed to me during the attunement. They have been very powerful in my work as a healer and in my connection to all of life.
I have since taken all levels of Reiki from William Rand in order to be sure I have a full and complete understanding of all Reiki teachings and the attunement process. I am fully certified to teach all levels of Reiki as well as many other forms of Energy Healing. I am a registered teacher with Canadian Reiki Association and a registered Karuna Reiki® Master with the International Center for Reiki Training. I believe in the Center’s philosophy, code of ethics and teaching standards. I want my students to be aware that I am offering them a complete course of study according to the standards set out by the International Center for Reiki Training, the Canadian Reiki Association and the International Association of Reiki Professionals. I am dedicated to teaching this information to them with integrity and honesty.
In July of 2002, I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Canadian Reiki Association. The Canadian Reiki Association is a federally chartered, non-profit registry of Reiki practitioners and teachers. The aim of the association is to provide the public with referrals to Registered Practitioners and Registered Teachers, promote ethical practice and teaching, encourage educational standards, inform and protect the public and provide a national voice for CRA members.
In 2003 a group of Reiki Practitioners in Ontario formed the Reiki Association of Ontario in order to create a strong Reiki community within our Province. Reiki Ontario has the same mandate as the federal association, but with more focus on the practice of Reiki within Ontario. I resigned my position with the Canadian Reiki Association in order to better serve the Reiki community within my own Province and took over as President of the Ontario Reiki Association in 2004.
I continued my study of Reiki and working with the Divine Rays. In October 2002 I became a Karuna Reiki® Master. I began teaching Karuna Reiki® the following year. I love the beautiful compassionate energy of Karuna. The opportunity to use toning and chant with Karuna Reiki® is extremely beautiful and effective. It opened me to the unlimited possibilities of healing with sound.
I had the opportunity to study Rainbow Reiki, ‘Connecting to the Body of Light’ with Walter Lubeck in August of 2003. It was a wonderful course as only Walter can present it. Walter is a bit of a wizard who has spent many years as a student of the esoteric. He brings lightness and fun to all that he teaches.
My connection to the power of sound became even deeper when I became a Reiki Drumming Practitioner. Combining sound and Reiki was a natural progression and I love how they work so powerfully together. I went to Sedona in November of 2003 to complete those studies with the founder of Reiki Drumming, Michael Baird. The magic of Sedona surrounded me. Each day I took long walks in the red rocks to help integrate all that I was learning. I came back ready to use the drumming work in my practice and teach it to the Reiki community.
My understanding of the ancient powers within the Reiki system deepened even more when I took Five Element Seichem and Golden Dragon training with Alex Baisley. The Alchemical processes within this system have similarities to the Alchemical Healing studies I did with Nicki Scully in the summer of 2005. Seichem and Golden Dragon give me new ways to combine it all.
In April of 2006 I became a Gendai Reiki Shihan, which is the Master Level in that system. Gendai Reiki has its roots in original Usui Reiki. Mr. Hiroshi Doi is a Japanese Reiki Master who has been spreading the teaching of Usui Sensei and the original Usui Ryoho Gaikai (school) around the world. Gendai offers a strong Buddhist perspective with mix of western Reiki techniques and the original Reiki teachings. It was very interesting to learn from a lineage that come directly from Japan. While some of the teachings differ, the essence is the same. The more I learn, the more I understand the limitless energies we are tapping into when we are connected to this beautiful healing power called “Reiki”.
In the spring of 2006 I began working with the healing rays and Divine Beings of Shamballa through Master/Teacher Deb Caldwell. By the summer I had attained a Master Degree in Shamballa Multidimensional Healing.
“Has Reiki changed your life?” This is one of the questions people often ask me. In answer to this I can say my life has been changed in the most wonderful and uplifting ways. I was fortunate not be a healer who came to this work because of serious disease. My personal healing has taken place on many levels and has led me to a greater understanding of myself and my divine purpose. Reiki enhances my life everyday. I have connected to its creative force. I use it to assist in creating positive changes in my life and to get me through the not so positive moments. In moving from a place of struggle and effort to a life of grace and ease, I answer, “Yes! Reiki has changed my life profoundly.”
I delight in seeing how it changes the lives of my students and clients. I have seen wonderful changes that have transformed people who have suffered from Chronic Fatigue, Depression, Fibromyalgia and many other dehabilitating illnesses. I have seen traumatic injuries heal very quickly, I have witnessed people taking control of their lives and I have had the honour of being present with the dying in their final act of peacefully letting go. I consider Reiki to be a magnificent gift from the Universe and I feel honoured each time I am able to use this gift either for myself, my family or a client.
In my studies with many wonderful teachers I have learned techniques and methods of using Reiki to support wholeness. Each time I work with a client, we discern together, the most appropriate method to facilitate their healing. I have found that whatever they are comfortable with will be most effective.
Reiki has become an expression of creativity that allows for very deep levels of transformation and healing. I have learned to combine it with powerful methods of healing through sound, light and alchemy. As I tell my students, ‘Reiki is only limited by your own creativity”.
